Keimbildung und Keimwachstum bei der Metallabscheidung
Die Entstehung von metallischen Schichten ist, ausgehend von der Bildung einzelner Keime bis zur geschlossenen Schicht aus zahllosen Einzelkristallen, ein relativ komplizierter Prozess. Beginnend mit der Entstehung eines Keimes können unterschiedliche Modellvorstellungen zum Bilden und Wachsen der Keime herangezogen werden. Für einzelne Phasen dieses Prozesses stehen experimentelle Methoden zur Verfügung. Zum Teil kann aus dem Verlauf des Abscheidestroms beziehungsweise der Abscheidespannung auf den ablaufenden Mechanismus geschlossen werden.

Nucleation and Growth in Metal Electrodeposition
Formation of a metallic deposit is a process beginning with the deposition of individual nuclei and continuing from there to the formation of an integral ?lm, built up from countless individual crystallites. As such, it is a relatively complex process. Starting with the formation of an individual nucleus, the formation and growth of such a nucleus can be represented using a number of models. In the case of a single phase, a variety of experimental methods exist to follow the process. To a certain extent, the current-time transients and sometimes also the deposition voltage can provide an insight into the deposition mechanism.
